Bylo mo\u017en\u00e9 ji dostat jak s manu\u00e1ln\u00ed, tak automatickou p\u0159evodovkou DSG. Poh\u00e1n\u011bn\u00e1 n\u00e1prava byla jen p\u0159edn\u00ed. O 3 roky pozd\u011bji nep\u0159i\u0161lo nic jin\u00e9ho ne\u017e \u201eerko\u201c, u kter\u00e9ho se s\u00edla vy\u0161vihla na 195kW a byl p\u0159id\u00e1n samosvorn\u00fd diferenci\u00e1l XDS na p\u0159edn\u00ed n\u00e1pravu. Ve sv\u00e9 dob\u011b to byl nejv\u00fdkonn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed kdy vyroben\u00fd model \u0160pan\u011blsk\u00e9 automobilky.\u00a0Dlouh\u00fdch 5 rok\u016f pot\u00e9 museli fandov\u00e9 sportovn\u00edch Leon\u016f \u010dekat na n\u00e1stupce, nicm\u00e9n\u011b \u010dek\u00e1n\u00ed se vyplatilo. T\u0159et\u00ed generace dostala motor 2.0 TSI z konkuren\u010dn\u00edho hatchbacku od Volkswagenu a jej\u00ed s\u00edla \u010d\u00edtala 206kW\/280HP. Seat tak\u00e9 za\u010dal nab\u00edzet i kombi verzi s p\u0159\u00eddomkem ST. N\u00e1sledovaly verze s 290, pot\u00e9 300 ko\u0148mi. Sv\u011btlo sv\u011bta spat\u0159ila tak\u00e9 Cupra R, jen\u017e dostala do v\u00ednku 228kW a t\u00edm se stala p\u0159\u00edm\u00fdm konkurentem Volkswagen Golfu R, jeliko\u017e ten je na tom \u00fapln\u011b stejn\u011b co se \u201en\u00e1\u010din\u00ed\u201c t\u00fdk\u00e1.\u00a0Seat Leon Cupra je nejprod\u00e1van\u011bj\u0161\u00edm sportovn\u00edm modelem zna\u010dky, z\u00e1rove\u0148 kombi bylo ve sv\u00e9 dob\u011b nejrychlej\u0161\u00edm kombi vozem na N\u00fcrburgringu. Od lo\u0148sk\u00e9ho roku se z p\u0159\u00eddomku za n\u00e1zvem stala samostatn\u00e1 zna\u010dka, p\u0159esn\u011bji \u0159e\u010deno ze sportovn\u00ed divize Seatu je nyn\u00ed Cupra samostatnou zna\u010dkou.
